That sounds all good, but if you are anything like me, and the game hates you, acquiring salvage keys by just playing the game just so happens to be not a plausible option. 

Therefore, in this article, I will tell you the effective method of farming salvage keys that works for me: if it works for me, it should also work for you.

What Are Salvage Keys in Destiny 2?

Salvage keys are a token currency for unlocking Salvage loot chests. The arrival of the season of the deep introduced three new activities to the game: Salvage, Deep Dive, and Fishing. In the Salvage game mode, guardians engage in multiple activities on Titan. 

Upon completing a Salvage activity, guardians are rewarded with a Salvage loot chest, which guarantees seasonal rewards. However, there is a catch. To unlock the Salvage chest, guardians require a salvage key. 

Therefore, salvage keys hold great significance for guardians that want to acquire seasonal weapons and gear quickly and efficiently.

How to Get Salvage Keys?

The drop of salvage keys is completely randomized.  Guardians can get them by playing any activity of the game that comes in core, seasonal, or end-game playlist. For instance, the following activities can net you a salvage key. 

• Strikes
• Crucible 
• Public Events
• Gambit 
• Raids 
• Nightfalls 
• Dungeons 

End-game activities like Raids, Dungeons, and Nightfalls are more likely to drop a salvage key. So, if the RNG gods are not with you, try doing the end-game activities for a higher chance of getting a salvage key. 

Besides relying on the game’s RNG, there are several other guaranteed ways by which you can acquire salvage keys, including. 

• Buying the premium season pass and claiming the reward of salvage keys
• Ranking up the season pass and claiming higher tier rewards of salvage keys
• Leveling up the seasonal vendor and claiming salvage keys as a reward 

How to Farm Salvage Keys in Destiny 2 Season of the Deep

The game does reward players with salvage keys by simply playing the game. However, it is a slow and long process. What if you want to acquire salvage keys quickly in the least possible time? 

There are several farming methods that increase the odds of acquiring multiple salvage keys in the shortest time possible. Here are some of them that have worked for me. 

Farming the Seasonal Playlist

Farming the seasonal playlist of the game, especially the salvage game mode, is a great way of acquiring salvage keys. 

Not only do guardians have the chance to acquire salvage keys after completing a match of salvage, but farming the seasonal playlist also contributes to the leveling up of the seasonal vendor. 

As I have previously stated in the article, the reward for leveling up the seasonal vendor is salvage keys. 

So, by farming the seasonal playlist, guardians are unlocking two different avenues of acquiring salvage keys; just make sure to acquire the bounties and challenges from the seasonal vendor before you head into a match of salvage.  

Level up the Season Pass Faster

Many tiers of the premium season pass carry the reward of salvage keys. If you have bought the premium seasonal pass, you can farm salvage keys by leveling up tiers faster. 

Season pass can be leveled up by completing any activity of the game. However, to accelerate the process of leveling up the season pass, complete the daily and weekly bounties and challenges to earn extra XP towards the season pass tiers. 

Complete Nightfall Ordeal

The nightfall Ordeal is perhaps the most challenging activity of the game. However, with the added challenge comes a higher chance of acquiring a salvage key. Farming nightfall ordeal should be your ticket to receiving a salvage key; did I mention you can get fancy loot, too, by completing this activity.

Farm Kalli 

Farming kalli in the last wish raid can also provide a chance to acquire a salvage key. One way of acquiring a lot of keys quickly is by farming kalli repeatedly.

Once you are done killing Kalli, restart the checkpoint; rinse and repeat this process until you have enough salvage keys. 

The most efficient way of farming kalli is through a complete fire team. Solo guardians can attempt this method, but they need to have a strong build that has enough firepower.
